Matsumae International Foundation Fellowship 2023-24: A Gateway to Japan Research

The Matsumae International Foundation Fellowship is an annual opportunity for researchers and professionals from around the world to undertake research and projects in Japan.

The MIF Japan Fellowship 2023-24 is a fully-funded research fellowship program that covers all expenses associated with travel and research in Japan. This includes a monthly allowance of JPY 220,000 to cover research activities and living expenses, JPY 120,000 for initial costs of living in Japan, round-trip economy class airfare. 

The fellowship is available to non-Japanese nationals who hold a Ph.D. degree and are working in their home country. Applicants must be under 49 years of age and have command of either English or Japanese. They must also receive a letter of invitation from their chosen host institution in Japan.

The fellowship is available in natural science, engineering, medicine, and related areas. It provides a unique opportunity to deepen knowledge and understanding of Japan and develop a professional network in one of the most dynamic countries in the world.
